Poachers Busy In Youbou **GRAPHIC WARNING**

Poachers Busy In Youbou **GRAPHIC WARNING** Tube. 2.93 Mins.

YOUBOU - Poachers just outside Yubou have killed two elk that were both about to give birth. The carcasses of the two pregnant Roosevelt Elk were found by volunteers with Wilderness Watch, a group dedicated to stopping illegal wildlife poaching - something they say is getting worse in the Cowichan Valley. The two elk fetuses were found over the side of a bank away from the remains of the cows. Wilderness Watch coordinator Denis Martel says it appears the poachers were attempting to hide the bodies. Since October, Martel says more than 30 elk have been killed by poachers in the area. The local conservation officer is investigating the incident. Anyone with information on poaching in the Lake Cowichan / Youbou area is being asked to call 1-877-952-7277 to leave anonymous tips.
